Battery Equalizer is particularly applied in VRLA battery (12V / 2V systems) where two or more batteries are connected in series.

When batteries of different SOC (state of charge) are connected in series, there’s a chance of a weaker battery becoming very weak and a stronger battery being overcharged. This could lead to a significant reduction in life cycle of the overall string of batteries. In effect, the lifespan of batteries could be shortened, giving less durability than was designed to be.

The battery equalizer prevents this adverse effect of batteries going faulty when connected in series and thereby increasing optimum lifespan of the battery string.
